RBC Awarded Best Bank in North America by RBI

26 May 2012

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has been recognized as the Best Bank in North America by the Retail Banker International (RBI). This was not the only award RBC received, well more specifically, someone at RBC received.

Dave McKay, group head, Canadian banking has received the Retail Banker of the Year award.

The annual RBI awards are extremely well established and highly regarded within the industry as the mark of exceptional performance.

That said, RBC was the only financial institution to win an award.

What does winning these awards mean for RBC?

The fact is, by being recognized by the RBI as the Best Retail Bank in North America is a huge achievement. This award is based on demonstrated high levels of sustainable profitable growth over the past year.

Douglas Blakey, Editor of Retail Banker International explained that this growth was achieved in an environment of economic uncertainty, low GDP growth, high unemployment and a downward pressure on net interest margins across America.

Dave McKay was awarded with the Retail Banker of the Year award, which is on of the highest individual honours RBI has to offer for a retail bank. This award is based on criteria of outstanding performance and leadership.

What other accolades did RBC receive?

RBC also ranked in the top five in the categories of

  • Global Retail Bank of the Year
  • Best Branch Strategy
  • Best Online Banking Strategy

The Best Online Banking Strategy is quite a notable achievement as it is in a wide field where around 300 banks were nominated for the award globally.

It is great to see RBC getting awarded for their hard work over the past year.

This achievement demonstrates that commitment that RBC has been providing clients. I for one am happy to see RBC get recognized for their hard work, not to mention Dave McKay getting acknowledge for all of the hard work he put forth in his performance and leadership.
