Android CIBC ATM and Branch Locations App Overview

18 August 2011

Android mobile banking apps are quite scarce, and last week I spoke about Samir, a man who took it upon himself to create locator apps for banks not offering. That being said, last week I covered the Android RBC ATM and Branch Locations App. The app offered everything you could possibly need in a locator app and much more in my opinion.

With that in mind, today I will be examining the CIBC Locator app.

What does the CIBC ATM and Branch Locations app offer?

It goes without saying that the CIBC ATM and Branch Locations App allows CIBC customers to search for the CIBC branch and ATM locations right on their Android mobile devices. By doing this, you allow yourself to avoid paying ATM fees when using non-CIBC ATM machines. In all honesty, this is the best practice for anyone to do regardless of who they bank with. It is completely unnecessary to pay the ATM fees for simply using a difference banks ATMs, and if you can, it makes sense to use what is available to you to find one nearest to you.

How does the app work?

It is quite simple really, the CIBC ATM and Branch Locations App uses the Android’s GPS to locate the nearest branch/machine and displays it on a map, or a list view sorted by the distance to the nearest location from your current position.

After determining which location suits you best, you need to just tap it on the map or from the list and the app will show you the details about the location. It explains whether it is a branch or ATM, the operation hours and even the branch’s phone number. The distance will also be shown in this screen from your current position. This pretty much allows the user to figure out exactly where they are going and even a way to contact the branch in the event you need to.

Keep in mind, that without data you will not be able to get directions to the location through Google Maps.

One great feature about the CIBC ATM and Branch Locations App is the fact that if you are in a hurry, you can just shake your phone and the app will show you the nearest location.

This is a great locator app, and I am still in awe at the fact that CIBC has yet to develop their own fully integrated Android app, or even a locator function through their web based mobile browser.

If you are interested in downloading the app, head straight to the Android Market.

What do you think of this CIBC Locator App?

CIBC does it again with their new brokerage app. Now their clients can access their CIBC brokerage accounts on the go.

I am glad you like this app too Sensei!

Although CIBC has a recently launched banking app on the Android, it is simply a wrapper to their mobile site it has a Finder but lacks native app functions like GPS and map integration not to mention that web apps are slower.

I am sure they will come out with something soon, after all, CIBC was the first Canadian bank to have a native iPhone app.

i want check this site because this site working proper or not
