Beware of Fraudulent Emails

12 April 2010

Recently I began to receive various emails, which was from TD Canada Trust, and it was sent out to increase security for all online banking users.

Seeing as TD has no relation with the email account I received this email on, I was positive it was a fraudulent email.

After spending some time using Google (barely 3 minutes) I came across an interesting article, which spoke about the exact email I received.

The article was written on Banknerd.ca, and was entitles “Easy-Web Update –Fraudulent Email”.

Below you will see the image of the email sent out. There are various problems with the email I received.

First of all, the subject was from “T-D Canada Security”; having the dash between TD marks the fraudulent email alone.

In the article above, it went to say how the author of the letter is nowhere to be found in affiliation to TD with further proved that this is a fraudulent email.

I hope this can raise awareness of the methods people are using to steal your bank account information. Hopefully you are now further prepared for such attacks in the future.
