Scotiabank Launches Application for iPhone and Blackberry

scotiaBank 150x150 Scotiabank Launches Application for iPhone and BlackberryScotiabank announced on December 2nd announced two new mobile services to help keep customers informed during their busy lives.

The first to be launched is Scotia InfoAlerts, a service which notifies customers via text message or e-mail of transactional activities into their accounts.

The second is an application for the and or Blackberry smartphones, which will provide Canadians with a GPS locator for and Automated Bank Machines (AMB).

These two new services are a step toward offering full mobile that are expected to start next spring.

There will be more than 15 account information and real time security related alerts available. Customers can choose which notifications they would like to receive and when.

Account information alerts include:

)daily or weekly) on accounts

• Visa/Line of Credit (LOC) minimum payment due

• Specific Visa/ LOC balance reached

Security related alerts include:

• Debit and transaction alerts

• ABM withdrawal and deposit alerts

• Visa use in a foreign country

Security related alerts will be advising customers on any unusual activity on their account, which are provided at no costs whereas any account information alerts are currently offered for free until May 31st, 2010.

On another note, customers who do register for InfoAlerts before March 31, 2010 have a chance to win either a seven night, all inclusive Eco Adventure for two to Belize, one of three Pro laptops with an or one in eight Sirius packages.

With the introduction of this application for the or Blackberry it makes Scotiabank the first major Canadian bank to launch an application.

    That is cool and I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Unfortunately I hate Scotia and will never go back there.

    I wish President’s Choice would get their act together. I haven’t seen any changes to their website interface in years not to mention ground breaking technologies like iPhone and mobile market in general.

    Not many banks are being on technology… RBC stands out from the crowd and ING Direct does also. The sad part is they still are somewhat behind but ahead of the competition.
