ESSO Speedpass – Collecting Gas Easier

9 July 2009

fob usage 150x150 ESSO Speedpass Collecting Gas EasierKeeping up with the swipe and go payments, today I will touch upon the ESSO Speedpass. If you recall, the ESSO Speedpass is a key tag you can place on your car keys and use it to pay for everything you need at ESSO without having to open your wallet. When you use your Speedpass you automatically earn ESSO Extra points or if you want you can earn Aeroplan Miles on every elegible purchase. The ESSO Speedpass is a convenient for of payment for anyone who finds it annoying to either go in to the store to pay or have to go through the entire debit/credit card process at the pump.

The Speedpass works by you pointing the key tag to the reader on the pump marker “Place Speedpass Here” and once the Speedpass key tag the tiger lights up and you can begin pumping the gas of your choice. When you are finished the tiger will go out and the transaction is complete.

Now in order to use the Speedpass, it has to be linked to a credit card and an ESSO Extra rewards card. When you have everything in order you can begin earning points and paying for your gas easily.

Now with the Speedpass you can either enrol into the ESSO Extra points or Aeroplan Miles reward program. For the ESSO Extra points rewards program you earn 500 bonus points on the first time you use your Speedpass and with the Aeroplan Miles program you earn 200 bonus Aeroplan Miles.

With the Aeroplan program you will earn 1 Aeroplan Mile for every $3.

People tend to use an RBC Visa card with the Speedpass because points are interchangeable, so for people who do own an RBC Visa card you should consider getting the Speedpass because it is another way to collect points faster for that trip or merchandise you have been saving up for.

Just remember not to lose your Speedpass because anyone can just use it because you do not need to sign or input a PIN to make a purchase. Well the exception would be if you spend $150 at the gas station, but unless you are either filling two cars at once or buying a whole lot of junk food I do not see that happening anytime soon.

If you want to get the Speedpass, all you have to do it apply. There is no charge to enroll into the Speedpass program, so why not make life easier for yourself and click here.
